Join Mellori Solutions and ASR Defence for an upcoming Association of Old Crows (AOC) webinar exploring how adaptive sensing, cognitive EW and evolving RF technologies are changing the way we understand the electromagnetic battlespace.
For decades, Electronic Support (ES) systems have relied heavily on reducing intercepted radar signals to Pulse Descriptor Words (PDWs), capturing parameters such as frequency, pulse width, time of arrival, amplitude and angle of arrival. These parameters are then used for sorting, deinterleaving and emitter identification.
But what happens when the radar itself becomes increasingly software-defined?
Modern RF systems can dynamically change their waveforms, modulation, frequency, timing and operating modes. In this environment, reducing signals to a limited set of pulse parameters risks overlooking the patterns and sequences that reveal how an emitter is behaving.
The challenge is no longer simply identifying a signal. It is understanding what that signal tells us about an emitter’s behaviour and, potentially, its intent.
Moving Beyond Signal Identification
In collaboration with ASR Defence, Mellori Solutions is exploring what these developments mean for future ES architectures, electromagnetic warfare (EW) capabilities and operator interfaces.
Mellori’s Managing Director Phil Guy and Dr Len Sciacca FTSE, CEO and co-founder of ASR Defence, will explore these questions in the upcoming AOC webinar:
From Signals to Behaviors: Cognitive EW, Adaptive Sensing and the EW Operator of the Future
📅 Date and time
United States (Eastern Time): Thursday 19 November 2026, 3:00 pm EST
United Kingdom: Thursday 19 November 2026, 8:00 pm GMT
Australia (Sydney/Melbourne/Canberra): Friday 20 November 2026, 7:00 am AEDT
The discussion will examine how adaptive radar and cognitive EW are shifting the focus from individual signals towards behaviour, how operators can interrogate machine-generated assessments and uncertainty, and what this means for future EW training, experimentation, modelling and test and evaluation.
The webinar is open to AOC members and non-members, including Defence operators, engineers, researchers, capability developers and industry professionals.
Registration is free for AOC members, with a US$25 registration fee for non-members.

The discussion will continue in December at AOC 2026 in National Harbor, Maryland, where Phil and Len will be attending, presenting and engaging with the international EW community.
As electromagnetic threats become increasingly adaptive, understanding the relationship between signals, behaviours and intent will be central to how future capabilities are developed, tested and employed.
The question is no longer only what signal are we detecting? It is also what is the system doing, why might it be doing it, and how should we respond?
